I only just heard about Johnny. I was not originally from South Philly but always treated at his restaurant like they had known me all their lives. He was a warmhearted guy and his food was wonderful. He will be missed.

My deepest and most sincere sympathies to The Franco family. Johnny and I were extremely close during and right after high school. I absolutely loved him as a brother, and always felt like a part of the family in the presence of his incredible parents Fran and Joe, and his lovely sister Dana. I literally just found out, and my heart is broken. No one's smile lit up a room like John's, and I will remember that forever.

Prayers to all of John's family, but especially to Dana. We share a bond now - we have the memories of a lifetime of our sibling. We all had some great times, let them be our consolation. John always had a smile, always laughing, even in the face of great pain. May he be blessed forever in heaven.

I can't begin to say how sorry I am. I've known John since he was a little boy. He was a kind, gentle, caring, loving and giving person. I can't believe he is gone so young and so sweet. His father, Joe, was very proud of him. You always had a smile on your face. You will certainly be missed by so many, many people. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. May God rest your soul. Love you,Dottie

Sincerest condolences to the entire Franco Family on the passing of Johnny Barrels. My family has dined in & ordered out from his restaurant since the grand opening. I'm shocked to even hear he was sick. May his "smile, humor & meatballs" enter the pearly gates of heaven. I know my Dad will finally get his mussels now that Johnny's there.

What a loss. Much too young and much too soon. Always a great smile....always. And a kind word about everyone. John's face lit up at the mere mention of Christian and Felicia. You are his pride and joy. What a fantastic father and role model.

We live in Willow Grove Pa., put the ride was worth it> I remember telling you for years, Johnnie you have to pen a place up in my neck of the woods. My wife Mary and I and the many friends over the years we brought down with us, will miss you so much. You were a true GENTLEMAN
