My condolences go out to everyone in the McElwee family. John and I worked together at Balis & Co. for several years and we went through some trying times when the office burned. John was one of the hardest working and most loyal persons I ever worked with. He was a great guy.

Sorry to hear about John. John was my first supervisor out of West Catholic High School in 1961 when I got a job in the mail-room at General Electric at 32nd and Chestnut. John was a great guy and one of my favorite Irishmen. In fact John taught me how to drive and get my drivers license. He used to let me drive his Plymouth Valient,I believe it was, up and down Cobbs Creek Parkway---he was a very patient and BRAVE man. I am truly sorry I lost contact with John over the years...he was a good friend. My deepest sympathy to John's family Dan Harrell
