John Talucci Obituary

TALUCCI JOHN F. TALUCCI, known for his broad smile, passed away on Fri., Dec. 21, 2001, surrounded by the family he cherished so much. He was born Oct. 11, 1939 in Newark, DE and later went on to Lehigh University where he earned his degree in chemical engineering. Immediately upon graduation in 1961 he began working with Phila. based Rohm and Haas Co. which would employ him his entire career. His career with Rohm and Haas Co. took him to Canada and Mexico, where he earned his Masters in Business at the University of the Americas. After 10 years in Mexico the family moved on to Brazil then Miami and ultimately Phila. Over this time Mr. Talucci was vice president of 3 different divisions. In 1998, John and his wife Sue moved to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. It was in Colorado where John found the time to pursue many of his passions. He was deeply committed to the Mexican community and got tremendous joy from teaching them math, science and English. He loved taking them skiing, skating or to the theatre for the first time. His reward was seeing their grades go up and their interests expand. John was a Master Gardener who took pride in his personal tomato crop but even more pride in his work at the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens and his volunteer work in the community garden. John Talucci was a man of incredible integrity, loyalty and commitment as evidenced by his 40 year marriage and lifelong commitment to one employer. He touched and inspired people everywhere he went. He was forever loving, honest, respectful, faithful, hardworking, loyal and driven. His definition of success was 'The deep personal self satisfaction of knowing that you do your absolute best in whatever endeavors you choose in life.' John F. Talucci lost his battle to cancer but his spirit will live on. He is deeply loved and will be missed by his wife Susan and his 6 children, John, Tom, Mark, Dan, Susie, Matt, their spouses and grandchildren, as well as his brother, Samuel J. Talucci. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 A.M. on Fri., Jan. 11 at Saint Katherine of Siena Church, 104 S. Aberdeen Ave. (corner of Lancaster Ave.), Wayne, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Shaw Regional Cancer Center, 322 Beard Creek Dr., Edwards, CO 81632 or the Vail Valley Home Health and Mountain Hospice, P.O. Box 40000, Vail, CO 81657 would be greatly appreciated.

As one of John's employees I will always remember him for being willing to engage in a dialoque on an issue even though it was very clear what his position was.

John made many contributions to the Coatings Business , but we definitely lost a competive edge when John and Sam were no longer available to entertain our customer's at the polker table !

My sympathy to Sue and Sam and all of the Talucci family on their loss.

Dear Sue,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. I will never forget how touched I was when John sent me a sympathy note on the death of my father. He was a great and caring leader. Working for him in Ag Chem was an honor. His concern about each of us, his comprehensive knowledge of the business and his vision for our future made us all think sharper and work harder.

With deepest sympathy,

John Talucci was a great man. His passing is a big loss for all of those who knew him and worked for him and with him. It was an honor and a pleasure to work at Rohm And Haas Ag Chem under the leadership of John Talucci. When my father passed away, John Talucci wrote me a personal letter expressing his regrets and sympathy. That letter is in a frame above my desk. That was John Talucci, a keen sense for the business he ran, but caring for the people that helped him make it a success. He will be truly missed. Our heart goes out to his family and friends.
