Joseph A. Hallinan

Hallinan Joseph A. Age 88, of Havertown, died peacefully June 15, 2024. Joe was devoted to his family, loved reading the newspaper and doing his daily crossword puzzles, and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. Mr. Hallinan was born on April 19, 1936 in Ardmore, PA the son of Katherine and Frank Hallinan. He graduated from West Catholic High School. He entered the food business at an early age, first working for Penn Fruit for twenty-five years and then joined Acme Markets in the early 1980's until his retirement in 1998. Joe was a District Manager who left a positive and long lasting legacy far beyond his tenure. His family was central to his purpose in life. Joe was affable, exuded a positive attitude, and was quick witted. He was rich in his faith as a devout Catholic. He was married for 68 years and is survived by his devoted wife Margaret (nee McGeary). Mr. Hallinan is also survived by his 5 sons, Joseph (Eileen) of Havertown, Stephen of Drexel Hill, John of Wayne, Robert (MaryGrace) of Broomall, and Thomas (Christine) of Cherry Hill, also survived by his sisters, Mary (Ronald) of Exton, PA, Dorothy of Philadelphia, brother-in-law Thomas McGeary; 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, many loving nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass for Mr. Hallinan will take place at 11 A.M. Friday, June 21, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 380 Highland Ln., Bryn Mawr, PA 19010. Visitation is from 9:30 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the church. Contributions in Mr. Hallinan's name may be made to the American Heart Association.
