In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
To The Alullo Family-
May God Bless you always and
Goodbye 's are not forever it is we shall see you again someday. The Sacrafice that you and your father have made after many years on the Philadelphia Police force are tremendous but we know that he touched so many lives and people are safer we have Joe Alullo to thank! Donna, Katie, Gina and Lisa
I'm sitting here in my office and took the time to read all of the beautiful condolences from family and friends, some that didn't even know your Dad. I still don't believe this has happened and don't know if I'll ever come to grips with it. But I will try to remain strong for all of you, I will ALWAYS be there when you need me, I owe that to your Dad and I owe that to you. We'll all get through this, day by day, with the help and prayers of the kind of people who took the time here, to express thier feelings about your father. Life goes on, and with your Dad watching down, he'll help get us through it. Remember, like I've told you many times, I have an angel on both shoulders, the good angel and the bad angel, they both look like your Dad. I miss him so very much, he truly was my best friend.

The Alullo Family,
I attended Frankford High School with Joe back in the early seventies. I wasn't one of Joe's close friends, but I must have had a class with him and remembered him as a friendly individual.
In the early 2000's I came across Joe again as he was assisting me in investigating a Philadelphia Family Court case that I was involved with. After thirty years of not seeing Joe, he was the same friendly individual that I had known from Frankford High.
My condolences for your loss. Joe, will surely be missed.

Put your faith in God and have him take the burden of your lose. I am so sorry, Joe will be missed.

Dear Donna, Katie, Gina, Lisa, and Emma: I lost track of you guys after you moved to Levittown. I was shocked beyond words when I saw Joe's picture on the TV as they unraveled the story of how he and his partner Bill had been killed. I worked with Joe in the Sex Crimes Unit before he was promoted to Sergeant. We had quite a tight knit squad. Joe and his partner Eddie Tufo were our class clowns. Whenever things got grim on the job, they managed to lighten the mood. Joe was quick witted and when those two teamed up oh boy, could they make you laugh.
Joe helped me dress in my dress uniform (because nobody ever told me how to wear the full uniform with blouse coat.!!!) when I was going to my orals for Sergeant. And he put a miraculous medal in my pocket. He told me that you, Donna, had given it to him for luck on the day he went for his orals. Well, it worked, because I did get promoted to Sergeant. I will never forget that day dressing in your living room to go down town to take the orals. But that was "our" Joe. My love and heartfelt sympathy to you and the girls. I'll see you tonight. And don't worry, Joe is watching out for you all now from a higher plane. God bless you and God bless Joe too. Love, Pat Lockwood (Ret Sergeant PPD).

To the Alullo Family: As members of the Loomis Family, we share your grief, but will never dare to think we feel your loss. I met "Big Joe", as I called him, only once - but he left his impression, believe you me. It was meeting fellow guards like him that let me know the camaraderie and under appreciated bravery amongst our husbands. Dear Donna and family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I worked with Joe for over 10 years on last out as his dispatcher for the PPD. He was a wonderful person who truly made me and the others in radio feel like we were part of his team. He always let us know that he appreciated the job that we did and he never took us for granted. Because he was so good at what he did, he made the rest of us look that much better! He had a true gift of making people feel special and important. We always wanted to do our best for him because he always did his best for us. If we ever needed anything, Joe was the one who would always come through for us. Whether it was a pizza at 2 in the morning or a card at Christmas - he always made sure we were taken care of.
He spoke often of you and the girls and you could tell how proud he was of all of you. Even though he was only here a short while, I know he touched and improved more lives than someone who has lived a thousand years. My life is definitely better for knowing Joe and I am blessed that I was able to call him not only my co-worker but more important, my friend.
My prayers are with you at this time.

Dear Alullo Family,
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you. Joe was one of the best people I have ever known and the best Sgt. I had the pleasure of working with. I worked with Joe for over 10 years as his police dispatcher on last out. He always, always made sure that Eileen and I felt like we were part of his team. He had that way with people - making them feel special and included! By doing his best, he always brought out the best in others. He expected nothing less and because he was so good at what he did, he made everyone else look better.
He was a caring, compassionate man who loved his family immensely, who will be missed by many, many people. He may have only had a short time on this earth but I know he touched and improved more people's lives than someone who's lived a thousand lifetimes. He really made people feel special and worthy.
My condolences.

Donna and family,
I am so sorry for your loss.
here is a poem that I hope gives you some comfort at this tragic time.
TOGETHERNESS
DEATH IS NOTHING AT ALL. i HAVE ONLY SLIPPED AWAY INTO THE NEXT ROOM.
WHATEVER WE WERE TO EACH OTHER, WE STILL ARE. CALL ME BY MY OLD FAMILIAR NAME. SPEAK TO ME IN THE SAME EASY WAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE. LAUGH AS WE ALWAYS LAUGHED AT THE LITTLE JOKES WE ENJOYED TOGETHER. PLAY,SMILE,THINK OF ME, PRAY FOR ME.
LIFE MEANS ALL THAT IT EVER MEANT. IT IS THE SAME AS IT ALWAYS WAS. THERE IS ABSOLUTE UNBROKEN CONTINUITY. WHY SHOULD I BE OUT OF YOUR MIND, BECAUSE I AM OUT OF YOUR SIGHT? I AM BUT WAITING FOR YOU, FOR AN INTERVAL SOMEWHERE VERY NEAR, JUST AROUND THE CORNER.
ALL IS WELL. NOTHING IS PAST. NOTHING HAS BEEN LOST. ONE BRIEF MOMENT, AND ALL WILL BE AS IT WAS BEFORE - ONLY BETTER. INDEINITELY HAPPIER. WE WILL BE ONE, TOGETHER FOREVER.
YOU ARE IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS

To Joe's Family:
I am so sorry for your loss. I worked at the former Texaco station on the midnight shift. Joe came in all the time for a quick chat and to make sure I was ok. He stayed in my parking lot so I could sweep the lot without fear. He gave me advice on passing my drivers exam. He ran out of roll call when the call came out that my store was being robbed. He did not have to do these things for me; but it was in his nature to do so. He was a kind soul and if there is anything I can do to help your family please let me know. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Donna, Katie, Gina, Lisa, Emma, What can I possibly say to you, that I haven't said already. Joe was a great man, a great neighbor, and like a second father to me growing up. He always made me feel safe, and always let me know that if I needed ANYTHING he was always there for me and my family. Your family were the best neighbors that we could have ever asked for. We were not only neighbors for 17 years but, more importantly we became "family" I will always remember my Joe with a smile. He loved my family, and we loved him. You all know that I am here for anything...anytime....I love you all more then words can say.
Joe,

Joe, I couldn't have had a better partner. From the day you left the Police Academy, to our days in the wagon, you learned fast. I'll remember forever.
