Dear Kate, Trisha and Jolie and extended Metzner family,
I met Joey way back when I was a teenager. He was one of the cool guys back then. Through the years of knowing Joe I learned how many great qualities he truly had. He adored his family and the sense of family. His daughters were his shinning stars, each one so unique and lovely. He took life in stride always trying to see the positive side of things and never dwelling on the negative. I believe one of his greatest qualitys was his non-judgemental way of looking at life and people. He was wise in his sense of people and understanding in nature. I remember his love of entertaining whether it be a Christening for one of his daughters or celebrating a holiday, he loved to see people gather together and laugh and enjoy, the most gracious host. One Christmas eve many years ago I was invited over for the family opening of gifts. I was an unexpected guest and yet as presents were handed out Joe handed me one as to make me feel included. I am sure it was meant for Pat but that was the kind of kindness you found in the both of them, true goodness. He was one of the only men I have ever met in my life that would actually break out into song when an oldie came on the radio, singing with unabashed enthusiasm that would just make you break into the biggest smile and joint in with him. So yes..Joe was one of the cool guys, but with all his other great attributes he was one of the good guys in this life. He was truly a gentle soul and I will never forget him. My prayers go out to all of his loved ones and know that he would want us to find all the joy that life has to offer. I know I learned what its like for a person to show real kindness, he showed me that. He was a precious gift in our life time.
Love to you all,
Anna Marie

Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
