DEAR UNCLE JOEY , JUST WISHING YOU A HAPPY 82ND BIRTHDAY WISH YOU HAD MORE WITH US . BUT THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN SELFISH. I KNOW YOU MISS MY DELICIOUS ONE SIDED CAKES. LOVE AND MISS YOU DOTSY{ THANK YOU FOR YOUR VISIT WITH JOEY, I KNOW YOU ARE WATCHING OVER HIM}

December 3, 2004
DEAR JOEY:
HERE I AM FOR THE THIRD TIME TO WISH YOU A HAPPY 82ND BIRTHDAY. DOTSY MADE A SMART REMARK THAT YOU WILL BE 85 BEFORE I GET THIS MESSAGE TO YOU. I MIGHT EVEN HAVE TO DELIVER IT (NOT TOO SOON THOUGH).
YOU CAN'T IMAGINE HOW MUCH I MISS YOU EVEM THOUGH IT IS ONLY A MONTH. THE HARDEST PART IS WHEN I COME DOWN IN THE MORNING AND I DON'T SEE YOU LYING IN BED. I KNOW THAT I AM BEING SELFISH BECAUSE THAT IS NOT THE LIFE YOU WOULD WANT. AT LEAST YOU WERE STILL WITH US AND WE SAW YOU EVERY DAY. BUT TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH, I AM GLAD THAT GOD FINALLY REASLIZED THAT YOU HAD ENOUGH. HE KNEW THAT YOU WOULD NEVER WANT TO BE IN THAT BED FOR TEN MONTHS. WE PRAYED THAT HE WOULD TAKE YOU AND GIVE YOU PEACE.
I KNOW THAT YOU ARE AT PEACE NOW AND THAT IS THE ONLY THING THAT KEEPS ME GOING. EVEN THOUGH I SIT AND LOOK IN THE DINING ROOM AND YOU ARE NOT THERE, I KNOW THAT YOU ARE IN A BETTER PLACE.
DID PEGGY AND YOUR MOTHER REMEMBR YOUR BIRTHDAY. I AM SURE THEY DID BECAUSE IN HEAVEN THEY KNOW EVERYTHING.
YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE ALL THE LOVING MESSAGES THAT HAVE BEEN SENT TO YOUR GUEST BOOK. THE KIDS ALL WROTE SOMETHING TO YOU TO LET YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THEY LOVE YOU AND ARE GREATFUL FOR ALL YOU DID FOR THEM.
I DON'T KNOW IF I AM REPEATING ANYTHING IN THIS MY THIRD LETTER, IF SO JUST CHUCK IT UP TO SENILITY.
FATHER MACKLE SAID I NEEDED TO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE BECAUSE I WAS JUST SITTING THERE AND CRYING BECAUSE YOU LEFT. HE OFFERED ME A JOB ON MONDAYS ANSWERING THE DOOR AND PHONE. HE MAY BE SORRY. I ASKED HIM WHAT IT PAYED - TEN OUR FATHERS AND TEN HAIL MARYS AND HE SAID HE MIGHT THROW IN A FEW GLORY BE TO THE FATHER. CAN'T BEAT THAT CAN YOU.
I READ ALL THE FINE MESSAGES THAT WERE SENT TO YOU. YOU CAN'T BEAT THAT FOR LOVE AND AFFECTION. YOU WON'T GET ONE FROM ELEANOR BECAUSE SHE CAN'T USE HER COMPUTER (NOT THAT I AM DOING SUCH A GOOD JOB) BUT SHE SENDS HER BIRTHDAY WISHES JUST THE SAME AS DOES MARY.
I THINK I HAD BETTER END NOW BEFORE I SCREW THIS LETTER UP AGAIN. EVERY TIME I DO A LETTER, I FORGET SOMETHING. YOU DON'T NEED A LETTER FROM ME TO KNOW THAT I AM SO GLAD THAT YOU PICKED ME OVER PEGGY AND FOR THAT I WILL ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL. NO ONE COULD HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER MATE. AS JACKIE GLEASON ALWAYS SAID "JOEY YOUR THE GREATEST".
WITH ALL MY LOVE AND AFFECTION. KEEP WATCHING OVER ME AS I WILL PRAY TO YOU EVERY NIGHT. YOU ARE SAINT JOSEPH OF SCHUYLKILL. YOU ARE ALREADY UP FOR SAINTHOOD.
ALL MY LOVE AND AFFECTION AND MY THANKS FOR MARRYING ME (THE LITTLE FAT GIRL)
JOAN

Uncle Joey, I will have lasting remembrances of you from Park Blvd and Bambrey Street. There was always plenty of tears, joy, laughter and fun. You made Joey and I feel secure by opening up your home to us, for this I will be eternally grateful. You were kind and generous thoughtful and caring. You were nothing but good to me in everyway. I known you loved us all very much because you fought so hard not to leave us. I thank you and love you with all my heart. I will miss you! Your Star Boarder Joanie in the Kitchen

Uncle Joe:Thank you and Aunt Joan for all the trips to West Point Park and Penn. Dutch Country and the Jersey Shore, breakfast, lunch and the occational dinner. Thank you for being there for me and the family thru those hard times(the pillow brigade)and all the countless happy times.Uncle Joe it didnot matter if I saw you once a year or once a week you were always the same, happy, cheerfull and loving guy with a handshake and hug and kind words. You would say "Your the Best"in my ear.I knew you said it to all of us,but I knew you really meant it. Well Uncle Joe,You were the Best.I whispered it in your ear as you lay waiting to go home to our Lord,Im sure you heard me.You lived your life as we all should, with a strong faith and a trust in Jesus. As I think of you I recall what St. Paul said when asked what it was like to have Christ in his life,He said"It is no longer I in me, only Christ." I think that describes you Uncle Joe. Thank You Always.

you always opened up your heart and your homes especially to me, I have fond memories of 3203 park blvd..it seemed you couldn't have enough people around you ,because you were caring and giving. I remember how the donoughts would magically appear on the table in the morning and how the house smelled like fresh brewed coffee(even though I was to young to drink it). and wcmc on the radio, and stopping at a l and p on the way in and getting those Friday night cheese steaks. then later on when I lived with you at 608, you planted seeds of example you didn't even know , like clock work every morning you were the first to stir the house, .. shower , shave, always neat in your uniform, off to work never missed, all day long around town , didn't complain much, dedication and hard work, makes a good man. You took a drink,... not much , allowed your self only 2 a night, never saw you drunk not once. you loved god..... you loved your food more! you loved your wife most. you loved your cats, you loved your family . we loved you . your house was always open to a person to eat, live, enjoy, visit, watch prism, it didn't matter... it made you richer in life and love. I love you uncle Joe and I hope you know that , and I wish I told you more . you taught well and didn't know it .
love

My favorite memory of Uncle Joey was when I consulted him for a project I had to do on my family history. He could actually trace us back to Ireland. Now that Uncle Joey has passed, a big part of who we were has faded into mystery. Rest in Peace.

Uncle Joey was the nicest, most generous, loving and pleasant person that I have ever known in my life. He was a true gentleman in every aspect of the word. His family loved him so much and we knew how much he loved us. But, if he called you "Moose" he really loved you. Rest in peace, Unc! You will always be in my thoughts and prayers
