Josie and Me, September 2006

Dear Jackie/Mike, Carol, John/Joan,
Your mother was an amazing woman and is now an ANGEL to all of us.
I loved Josephine and thought of her as my grandmother (my Nonna). I used to love sitting at her table talking to her, listening to her stories, telling her all of mine, listening to her words of wisdom, her non-judgmental ways, her hearty laugh, and seeing her gentile smile. Oh, and let's not forget her spotless chrome and kitchen sink -- her whole house, for that matter!! :o )
She will be missed dearly, by not just me, but by the whole block. The 2600 Block of South 11th street will never be the same.
This is the last photo I have of Josephine, taken in September 2006 at our block party. What a fun day that was. I knocked on her door and insisted that she come out and sit with me. I couldn't have been happier on that chair next to her. Nobody else mattered that day...honestly.
Although only knowing "Josie" for 3 1/2 short years, I feel so blessed that I have many happy and fond memories of her.
Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
Love, Marisa xo

Dear Jackie, Carol and John and family,
You and your parents are part of my earliest memories. Your mother was always kind and welcoming to my family. And no Italian restaurant will ever match those incredible meals she made for us.
I hope all your memories are as warm and happy as mine - and that they ease the pain of your loss.
Sincerely, Joan

Dear Jackie, Carol, and John...Although we have known your mother for 3 1/2 short years we loved her for the refined, well-spoken, and loving, sincere person she was. Our daughter became her neighbor in April 2003 and immediately took to Josie and regarded her as a grandmother. Marisa loved her and will miss the frequent visits she had with her. We are confident that the many happy memories you have of your mom will be of great comfort to all of you as you grieve her absence. With deepest sympathy, The Cavalieri Family

John, Carol and Jackie,
Your Mom was truly one of the nicest people I have ever met. Treated the entire LaSalle clan like her own family for all these years. A warm and beautiful woman with a great sense of humor. Each time you saw her, no matter how much time had passed, it was like you had just been there for dinner the day before. She will be missed.
