MALCOLM KATES Obituary
DR. MALCOLM, Oct. 26, 2013. A retired physician who was on staff at Methodist Hospital as well as a member of the faculty of the department of Medicine at Jefferson Medical College for many years. Survived by all of his loving cousins from the Jorovsky, Wilsker and Berman Families. Relatives and friends are invited to Funeral Services, Tuesday, 12 Noon precisely at GOLDSTEINS' ROSENBERG'S RAPHAEL SACKS, 6410 N. Broad St. Int. Har Zion Cem. Shiva will be observed at the Marku residence Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Scholarship Fund of Jefferson Medical College, Office of the Dean, 11th and Walnut Sts., Phila, PA 19107.

I just wanted to extend my sympathy to the family of Dr. Kates. I missed seeing him come into our offices this year to have his accounting work done. I always looked forward to seeing him (if it was only once or twice a year) over all these passed many years. He always had a nice smile and a quiet kindness about him. I truly feel saddened by his passing. God bless him and may he rest in peace. I can see his smile and it makes me smile.

It is with deepest honor that I extend my condolences to the Kates family. Malcolm was a quiet, hard working, dedicated member of the Library Committee of the Toy Train Reference Library at the National Toy Train Museum in Strasburg, PA. My encounters with him always found him to be polite and cheerful. He will be missed.

We just heard of Malcolm's passing...Malcolm you will be missed...Our home in Harvey Cedars LBI is right next to Malcolm's...On our first Summer in 2006 Malcolm saw our youngest son fishing from the dock...he came right over with fresh bait and they were fast friends and fishing buddies ever since...
Malcolm was always a kind soul and a gentlemen...Our huge Silver Maple next to his yard would drop leaves onto his property but he never complained even though it often took us till Spring to clean it all up...He was always kind and accepting...a great neighbor...Our deepest sympathies to his family...Malcolm you will be missed..Love Pam, Rob, Alex, Andrew and Jonathan(his fishing buddy).

We moved in next door to "Malcolm" in 2002. He was the best neighbor one could have. Quiet, unassuming, very helpful in the early months guiding a California family through its East coast adjustments. Jennifer and I always have fond memories of him (and that twinkle in his eyes he often had).

Malcolm was a true friend of ours for many years. He was Uncle Malcolm to my son Bill and our doctor for many years in Philadelphia. I enjoyed many evenings at his home trading lies about the ones that got away and trading information on toy trains and tin toys. We made many deals over the yeas and I felt I always come out on the short end which never bothered me as Malcolm loved to wheel and deal and it was my pleasure to watch him work.
Malcolm, we will miss you more than we can say. Thanks for introducing me to Cheese Wiz and pretzels. Rest in peace old friend

I wish to extend my sincere condolences to the family of my friend and Central High School classmate, Dr. Malcolm Kates. Malcolm and I had a very nice conversation at a recent 196th class reunion. He was such a nice person and a real gentleman. I was very saddened to learn of his death.
