Michael Kurtz Obituary

Kurtz Michael Nov. 14, 1960 - Nov. 3, 2025 Age 65, of Roslyn, NY, died peacefully though unexpectedly of natural causes on November 3, 2025. He was born to Mae and Herbert Kurtz and raised in Elkins and Melrose Park, PA. After graduating from Cheltenham High School, he attended Franklin and Marshall College prior to earning his M.B.A. from New York University. Michael had a successful nonprofit career, most recently as CFO of The New York Foundling. Upon retirement a little over a year ago, he became an oyster farmer on Long Island, NY, launching MK Family Aqua Farms. Throughout, in his leisure time, Michael was an avid athlete, voracious reader, and phenomenal woodworker. Michael is survived by his children, Alyssa (Danny) Brode and Miles Kurtz and Wendy Roldan; his sisters and their husbands, Marcy (Joe) Goldshear and Vicki Kurtz and Ben Manley; his grandchildren, Asher and Jonah Brode; his nephews Jesse (Ashley) and Robert Goldshear and Rhys Kurtz Manley; and his great-niece Mei Goldshear. Michael will be remembered for his kindness and integrity above all else. Michael was a very dear friend of mine in elementary school at Rowland. I have such fond memories of him. I am so saddened to learn of his passing, especially at such a young age. My condolences to all of those who knew and loved Michael. May his memory be for a blessing.
