MICHEL NOTREDAME Obituary
MICHEL, March 21, 2011, of Bruges, Belgium, formerly of Philadelphia. A pioneer in intro-ducing Belgian cuisine and beer to the city, Michel won plaudits for his restaurants Bridgid's and Cuvee Notredame, both in the Fairmount section. He grew up in Bruges and Middelkerke, Belgium, and attended the University of Leuven before coming to the United States in 1981, first cooking in restaurants that included Pyrenees and Monte Carlo Living Room. His bonhomie was as notable as his talent in the kitchen.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Elizabeth (nee Peitz) of Phila.; his parents, Marcel and Monique Notredame, of Bruges; his sister, Catherine (Paul) Huys, of Bruges; nieces and nephews. Services were held March 29th in Bruges.
