NOYES LEECH Obituary

LEECH
NOYES E., age 88. Longtime resident of Germantown, on July 1, 2010. Beloved husband of Louise (nee Gallagher); loving father of Katharine L., wife of Scott Galliher and Gwyneth L., wife of David C. Wilson; devoted grandfather of Megan Louise Wilson and Grace Elizabeth Wilson; and brother of William David Leech. He was a 1939 graduate of Lower Merion High School; a 1943 graduate of the University of PA and received his Juris Doctor from U. of PA in 1948. He was an associate at Dechert, Price & Rhoads, 1948 to 1949 and 1951 to 1953. He joined the faculty of the U. of PA Law School in 1949; was a Ferdinand Wakeman professor from 1957 to 1978; a Hubbell Professor of Law from 1978 to 1985 and a William A. Schnader Professor Law from 1985 to 1986 when he retired. Noyes was a Professor Emiritus from 1986 until his death. Member of Calvary Church, Germantown and COIF Chapter, Phi Beta Kappa. Co-author: The International Legal System, Third Edition in 1988 and general editor: Journal of Comparative Business & Capital Market Law, 1978 to 1986. Played in Chestnut Hill orchestra for many years and was a member of the Glenside V.F.W. marching band. Served with the US Army Air Force during World War II as a Staff Sgt. in 619th Army Air Force Band. He traveled extensively with his family and further afield with an international teaching faculty, including trips to Russia, Japan and Brazil. A friend once said: Noyes was a kind and faithful man. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 3 P.M. in Old Rosemont Cemetery, Bloomsburg, PA. There will be no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are in charge of THE DEAN W.
