Adored son of Diane and Jordan Berman and Eleanor Rosenthal and the late Morton Rosenthal. Cherished grandson of Leah Berman. Loving brother to Steven (Ilene), Fred (Bryna), Marc (David). Thinking as I often do of Richard on what is soon to be, unbelievably, the twelve year anniversary of his passing. The memories growing up are indelible and priceless. Wishing ever still that he had the benefit of more years to further conquer and expand his horizons. But his legacy nonetheless will live on for countless generations. There is a timelessness as well as a sanctuary for the wonder which was his life, remarkably. Carry on next generations.

While I did not know Richard personally, I knew about his battle through our friendship with his sister in law and brother, and through the generous support Richard provided for my brother's charitable work battling the disease they had in common. Leaving his Funeral Service two things became very clear to me: The Berman family's strength, honor, and love for one another is something to admire and emulate and will support them through this difficult time; I am a better person, father and husband for having attended his Service.

I did not know Richard but I do know that the Berman family has an exceptional reputation, a tremendous love for each other and an enthusiasm and excitement for life that we should all learn from. Richard's friendship over the years was time honored and immeasurable. His valor and humor was irresistable. This past year his courage was renewed, making his passing much more deeply felt. I loved Richard and feel his loss considerably. I am grateful for his life though, and the remarkable warmth and courage he sustained and kept alive. My heart goes out to his dear family. His family was blessed to have had such an amazing man as a role model. He is irreplaceable. His inspiration, sincerity, and generousity of spirit has been unfairly taken from us, but what he did in his all too brief life was the work of 10 men. We lost a remarkable man, and I lost a cherished friend and ally. There was greatness in him.
