Randi, Ellen, Tina: I realize I just shared a brief period of time with you and your mom. But, yesterday, Frank told me something I did not know.
Our family owes your dad a great deal for helping Frank and Ted's family to get Ted to rehabilitation, and to get him to the right rehabilitation center. All this time, I never knew this.
As a point of interest, when Ted and I were young; Frank, Sr. sent us to LA to get a manager off the job for illegal /improper actions. This was the summer after we were married.
In August or so, Frank Sr. suffered a heart attack. We were met in LA by the LA sales man (6:00 a.m.) who gave us tickets to return to Phila. that morning. Frank's heart had stopped four times but he lived another year and half or so.
Your dad took the helm of Penn at that time. He was more than ready, willing, able, and eager to initiate reforms and changes and expansion which Frank, Sr. was not open to allow.
The next day upon our return from LA, Ted had his appendix removed, and my mother's remission for cancer ended.
Your dad, gratefully, told me that I could return to Temple University and continue my undergraduate program in education, for which I was thrilled.
We never did return to LA. Also, when Ted was depressed following the death of Frank, Sr., your dad handled the situation so well. Ted came back home to take care of Frank and then Stu was born two years later.
It has always been important, in my humble opinion, to have relatives who shared the past to forward little tidbits. I was around years ago. . .
I wish Stu could have been with you all for dinner so he could have met all the younger generation. However, Donna had been on call and got little sleep the night before; and so they returned home. Such is life (not as we would like, it but as it comes to us).
Ellen and Winston, Tina and Sonny, Randi and Jon-- you all made Robert happy and proud that he has influenced your lives and has given you goals to seek and directions to follow. Our parents can and have been great and have left us their foot steps to try to follow . . . .
Tina, thank you, for taking some time for special sharing.
May God bless you all and offer peace . . . .soon, as you find peace in those happy moments your memories offer. The not so happy thoughts and memories will over time dissipate and be replaced, thankfully.
Love,
Sande

Pops,
Everything didn't go your way, but the way you rolled with the punches and is something truly unique. You were an inspiration to us all. Through example you showed us the right way to live. You treated us all unconditional love and were the epitome of selfless. You really brought happiness to everyone around you, and were truly the greatest man I've ever known.
