I'm so very very sorry for the loss of your dad. Although I haven't seen your parents in years, I can remember them visiting Dewey Street. I can remember thinking that your dad and Uncle Joe were the closest we had to "celebrities" since they were both in the String Band! I know I don't have to tell you that you were lucky to have your dad for as many years as you did. I'll be praying for you, your mom, and family.

Growing up as Bobby's cousin, I remember how proud his family and friends were of his military service and accomplishments in the Navy. In the last few years, I was glad to see Bobby again in Cape May and hear how proud he was of his family. My sincerest sympathy to Betty and his entire family. I pray God will bring comfort to them.

Dear Betty and Family,
We are sorry for your loss. Bob was much respected in the Woodland String Band as a genuine down-to-earth man with his own mind. He was funny and liked by everyone.
As a kid growing up in the band in the 60's, I remember Bob's stern and discipline manner as something I would later fully understand and admire with appreciation. The kids knew not to mess with Bob. As adults, his friendship was filled with respect and trust. He was a gentleman, and a man of honor in the Woodland String Band Hall Of Fame.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I want to say good night to my Uncle Bob.
What is more exciting, knowing Unc Bob was coming to visit or when he just banged into the room?
You see he filled all the space around him, Uncle Bob was a force field of energy. When Unc Bob was there something would happen.
I remember visiting Aunt Betty and Uncle Bob on Passyunk Ave.
In a corner of the living room was a chair and just next to it was a banjo. The face of the banjo had some pearly inlay and with the metal strings and the other "parts", I don't know... it was quite beautiful.
and I know this was Uncle Bobs and he knew how to work it.... it sat quiet.
I remember going down stairs and seeing the wall boards for Woodland SB backboards.... feathers, tiny mirrors, satin, and HUGE colors... Uncle Bob could wear these things. You see when he was in the room something would happen..
Good night, Uncle Bob
He is my Uncle Bob and I am so happy for that.

Although we lived thousands of miles away,Uncle Bob was thought of often. One special memory was at Aunt Frannie's funeral, when he and his brothers sat in the church with their arms around Uncle Joe. I was sitting a few rows behind them and it was a very touching moment I will never forget. It made me proud to be part of this family. Love you, Uncle Bob. Your niece Trudy (Butch)
