ROBERT LERNER Obituary

LERNER


ROBERT J., graduated from Temple University and the U. of Penn School of Social Work. He served as Executive Director of the Mental Health Association of Camden, NJ; the Mental Health Association of Rochester, NY & from 1977-97 the Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania. He played a lead role in the reform of the mental health system, including the closing of the Philadelphia State Hospital & development of community based consumer focused programs. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Farnsworth, children Rachel Lerner-Morse, Jennifer Lerner, Robert Lerner and step-children Justine and Richerson Farnsworth, 8 grandchildren and a sister Natalie Norwich. Private memorial services later.

Bob was very supportive to me when I was young. He gave me guidance in difficult times. I am thankful for the time spent with him as a sister in law. There were fun times and sad times. I always appreciated his humor. God speed on your next journey
