I met Ron just this past summer when he was in Wilmington, North Carolina, to explore historic sites for his work on the 203rd Pennsylvania Infantry during the Civil War. He contacted me before coming down because he had read my book on Fort Fisher, which included a lot of material on the 203rd Pennsylvania. Ron and I got together at Fort Fisher and hit it off immediately, both sharing our love for and interest in that famous unit. In fact, we decided by the end of the day that we would co-author a regimental history of the 203rd PA. I was really looking forward to working with Ron and getting to know him better. In fact, he was planning a return trip to Wilmington in the fall. Though my time with Ron was brief, I was at once struck by his kind, thoughtful, and generous nature, as well as his love of history, his family, and Pennsylvania. I am greatly saddened by his passing and extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and close friends. God Bless and keep Ronald C. Young.

To Mrs Young and family,

My condolences and prayers go out to all of you. Ron was one of my closet friends in high School. I will always cherish all those Phillie games we went to with him and his grandfather. He will always be remembered in my thoughts forever.

Mrs. Young, Cathy, Carl & family -- Very sorry to learn of Ron's passing.
I recall fondly childhood times in Southampton Hills. Ron was nice as he was handsome, athletic and always had time for the little kids. Whether he was shooting hoops or washing his car he'd always stop and make contact with us. I know my sisters and I would ask him to talk in his "donald duck" voice. He always did and we enjoyed it.
Wanted you to know we are thinking of you at this heartbreaking time.
Most sincerely,
Joette M. Adams.

I send blessings of healing of and abundance for family and friends of Ronald Young. Ron gave me his business card and enjoyed talking about the Civil War and Philosophy. One day he told me this story about Arabian Nights that was interesting.

Here is a poem from Mary Elizabeth Frye that I feel that Ron would appreciate:

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

My condolences go out to the family. He was a good man. He was there for me when my son passed away 3 years ago and he was easy to talk to. He was happy when he found out that i was pregnant and was going to have another chance at motherhood right before he left palmyra. I was sad when i found out he was leaving our store. He did a lot of good things for it. I will always remember him cooking on the grill wearing this big cat in the hat type hat. I got to see him a couple weeks ago and introduce him to my new baby girl. I've never seen a man so happy for me. He will be truly missed. Josh your father loved you so much he was always talking about you and the things you did together. Hold those memories dear to your heart. We will be praying for you and your family. God Bless. @->->----
