Sidney Dubin Obituary
SIDNEY, February 11, 2008. Husband of the late Sylvia (nee Pearson), father of Dr. William R. Dubin (Alicia) and Dr. Neil Dubin (Laurie); grandfather of Brian, Matt and Sam Dubin. Relatives and friends are invited to Graveside Services, Sunday 1 P.M. precisely, at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery (Sec. 1). Family will be at the residence of Dr. and Mrs. William Dubin. Contributions in his memory may be made to: American Legion Post #8, c/o George Burke, 114 Hilltop Ave., Kingstree SC 29556; or the Jewish Historical Society of South Carolina, Yarchik/Arnold Jewish Studies Program, 96 Wentworth St., College of Charleston SC 29424.

Dear Billy and Neil--
What a great and kind man your father was! I will always cherish the memories of growing up in Kingstree. I can still picture Uncle Sid walking past our house to the store each morning. We have spoken many times about the roles your parents played in both the Jewish and greater Williamsburg County communities. They set wonderful examples for their own sons as well as many others, including myself. I will remember Uncle Sid and Aunt Sylvia often and fondly. I hope you and your families will find strength in your memories of them.

Dear Billy and Neil,
The kindest of thoughts are sent your way. We were so sorry to hear about your parents. We have always heard that a sign of true love is for them to pass away within a short period of time. They certainly were role models. Not a time didn't go by when they mentioned you both and how proud they were of you. My sister, Gayle (Gilman) joins us in sending our heartfelt sympathy.

My sister still gets the Charleston news and shared this with me.
I certainly remember both of your parents as such warm and lovely people.

I have had the pleasure of meeting both Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Dubin years ago and found them to be very loving and gracioius people who raised a fine family. I have know Dr. and Mrs. Dubin for many years and they have truly touched my life in a very special way with their genuine and consistent kindness and thoughtfulness. My prayers will continue to be with this family as long as I am able to pray. May God place peace in your hearts and keep your memories ever so warm and comforting.

My condolences to your family. In 1966 when I was High Holiday rabbi in Dillon, I visited your father. Jack & Betty Pearson were among my parents closest friends. Your father and I had lunch together and he took me around Kingstree.
I remember well some of his stories.
