Steven Chance Obituary

Chance Steven K. Of Santa Fe, New Mexico formerly of Philadelphia died on January 28, 2023, after a short illness. Steve was born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania on July 9, 1945. He grew up in Malvern, Pennsylvania attending the Haverford School, (1963) Wesleyan University (B.A. 1967), The London School of Economics (M. SC. 1968), and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School (J.D. 1972), Magna Cum Laude, Law Review Editor and Order of the Coif. He was admitted to the Bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and practiced as an Associate and later Partner of Dechert, LLP in Philadelphia. Subsequently, he served as Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary of Teleflex Incorporated. In 2013 Steve and his then-partner, Natalie Agraz moved to Santa Fe New Mexico. They were subsequently married in Brandywine, Pennsylvania on December 2, 2017. While living in Santa Fe, Steve served as a volunteer for several non-profits, including as a member of the Boards of the Santa Fe Council on International Relations (now Global Santa Fe) and The Cancer Foundation for New Mexico. He was also a member and mentor of SCORE. While living on the East Coast, Steve was an avid sailor, a member of The Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia, and Past Commodore of the Mantoloking Yacht Club of Mantoloking, New Jersey. He was a member of the Cruising Club of America since 1975. Steve is survived by his wife, Natalie Agraz, his daughter, Anna Chance Slack, 2 grandchildren, Kelsey H Slack, and Chance A. Slack, a brother Mark Chance and 2 half-sisters, Barbara Stone and Suzanne Schenkel and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve's name to Global Santafe.org or The Cancer Foundation for New Mexico www.cffnm.org. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. David's Church in Wayne, Pennsylvania on April 15, 2023, at 12:30 P.M.

Just stumbled across Steve´s obit. We attended haverford school together. Great guy. Many interests. Did his daughter marry one of the Slacks? I was a fraternity brother of Tim. James m hare. [email protected].

I believe my mother was the servant for Britton Chance Uof P back in 1927. If so it wasnt a good experience. I wish Steven RIP .
