Thomas Daly was my ships Captain aboard the USS FAHRION. It was an honor to serve under him. He always looked out for his crew. It always felt like family.

Dear Daly family, I served under then Commander Daly on the USS Esteem from 1979 to 1982. I was an Ensign then. I had so much respect for my skipper. Sure he drove me hard, but I learned so much from him. He was an inspiration to me. He was absolutely the finest CO I ever had in my own 30 years in the Navy. Thru is guidance I ended up as a Commander in the Navy at Retirement. My heartfelt condolences to his family

Sorry to learn about Tom's passing. He and I were best friends in elementary school (St. Mary in Plainfield). We also grew up in the same neighborhood, on the Southwest end of Plainfield, near Dunellen. We also went to military academies, in 1964; he to Annapolis, me to the USCGA in New London. We lost track of one another after that. My condolences to Tom's family and friends.

Betsy, Heather and family,
I am truly sorry for this tragic loss. Tom's energy and positive spirit will be with us forever-after so many years, I still replay his mantra on Friday afternoon's "only 48 hours til Monday". He will by fondly & forever remembered - I'm so proud and honored to have worked for him and to call him my friend.

We have a very fond memories of Tom visiting us in San Francisco when he was VP of Tower Group International (then part of the McGraw-Hill Companies, and now renamed FedEx Trade Networks when acquired by FedEx). He took tremendous pride in the company, the city of Buffalo, and the traditions of the U.S. Navy. We even joked that he should relocate here since we already had a city, Daly City, named in his honor.

Dear Betsy and family, Rich and I are so very sorry for your loss of Tom. I can still rememeber the day that he came to our house to talk to me about becoming the Ombudsman for FAHRION.
