I knew Tom when we were frat brothers and pledge brothers of SAE at Marshall College (now Marshall University). Tom ALWAYS made sure that everyone in a group got attention. He was ALWAYS positive. He and I spent many college days playing sports with our frat brothers. We worked together in the Huntington Public Library. Memories....great memories. Tom and I were always, and will continue to be, very close as friends. Wow !!!! How I miss him and his infectious smile.

He was one of a small handful of the best friends I’ve had in life. He was of course an outstanding professional colleague; but I'll just miss the guy.

My sympathy and condolences go to the entire Dunfee family. Tom's circle of friends, colleagues, and admirers stretches around the world. We mourn the loss of our friend, and hope that Dottie and Tom's family will find a measure of comfort in the knowledge that "their Tom" holds a place of honor in the memory of so many. Tom was a blessing to all of us and we shall miss him very much.
Sincerely,

Dottie, our hearts went out to you and your wonderful family when we heard the news, which was such a shock and still hard to believe. We, too, feel the loss of Tom who was full of the joy of life that he conveyed so easily to others. From a great distance we have only seen snippets of your life over the last thirty years, but you always showed an extraordinary family filled with love, and that will continue. We are too far away to attend the funeral but you, Tom and your family will very much be in our thoughts.

Dear Dottie,
We have so many memories of Tom and his generosity. It has been said that people are remembered not for what they did or said or wrote, but for how they made us feel. Tom always made me feel appreciated and understood. He took delight in the ideas of his students and colleagues and was eager to praise the qualities of others. Thank you for sharing your wonderful husband with all of us, and for welcoming so many of us into your life. Don and I send our deepest condolences to you and your family.

Dear Dottie and Family,
Tom's professional career touched so many lives, and mine was one of them. His caring guidance was limitless; and he was always available with an ear, a kind word and such unbelievable clarity that you wondered why you did not know this wisdom from the start. He was wise and honest - a scholar and friend of true integrity - and a mentor who will be deeply missed by those who were honored by his gifts. We are all deeply sorry for your loss.
With deepest sympathies,
Prof. Beverley Earle

Tom Dunfee was man who helped so many scholars along the way with a word of encouragement, a strategic reference in one of his talks, or just good advice. He will be missed by all us in ALSB. He was also a very nice man.

Dear Suzy, Ed and all the family.
Our deepest heartfelt sympathies for this terrible happening. We did not know Tom for very long, but felt as though we always knew him. He was a wonderful, compassionate and sincere person.
You & Ed have now both lost your spouses, but have each other to hold and lean on.
Please accept our deepest sympathies in the heartfelt manner in which they are intended.
Love, Selman & Maryle

To Dottie and all of Tom's Family:
As one of countless people in the field of business ethics to whom Tom has provided advice and counsel, I want to express to you how generous Tom was to his colleagues and students with his time and thought. It was clear to me that Tom cared more about the development of others' careers than about furthering his own interests, and in remarkable and unique ways, he accomplished both, and more. Even more important, in every one of our conversations, he spoke lovingly and adoringly of his growing family. I wish you all strength and peace.
Sincerely,
Christopher Michaelson

I am deeply saddened today. I am thankful for the 30 plus years of our professional collaboration and for our friendship. It has been wonderful to know Dottie and to watch the Dunfee children grow up. I have so many wonderful memories of Tom including the night at the University of Minnesota where we shared the stage for the U's "Great Conversations" program. Tom was a giant in the field of business ethics and business law. We will all miss him. I feel a void in my life that I will try to fill with wonderful memories
