VIOLA, 91, died peacefully Saturday April 27, 2013 at Beaumont, Bryn Mawr. Born Viola Marston Jack Black. Attended Friend's School Haverford. Graduated Agnes Irwin 1940. Predeceased by husband Russell Bement Jr. and son Russell Bement III. Survived by brother E. Newbold Black IV and niece Alexandra Black. Services Friday May 3rd, Church of the Redeemer Pennswood Road Bryn Mawr. In lieu of flowers. Memorial contributions to the Devon Country Fair, P.O. Box 925 Southeastern, PA 19399.

I first knew Viola and her mother, Mrs. Black when I joined the Society of Little Gardens in the 1960's. We continued our friendship through working at the Devon Horse Show for many years. She always had a joke that would make you laugh at just the right time. She will be missed.

Viola was a great friend and will be missed by all who knew her. Her sense of humor was exceptional. She helped me a lot when I was involved with the Colonial Dames's Finance Committee years ago. May she rest in peace. With love, Edwina

I am so very sorry. Viola was nothing if not unique: stoic, stylish, outrageously funny, committed to her many charities and friends. She will be sorely missed. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.
