88, of Drexel Hill, PA, died April 13, 2018. Born and raised in Phila. he was a graduate of Central High School, St. Joseph's College and Thomas Jefferson University Medical School. Dr. Lista served as a Lt. Cmdr. in the U.S. Naval Medical Corps and upon discharge began private practice. His career was in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Roxborough Memorial Hospital. He retired in 2002 after 50 years as a physician. He was a past member of American College of Cardiology, American College of Chest Physicians and the American Society of Internal Medicine.
Bill's love of medicine was as great as his love of history and the many books that instilled that love. He was a member of St. Bernadette of Lourdes Parish. Son of the late Anthony and Carmella Lista, he was the beloved husband of Margaret Freas-Lista; father of Anthony (Rosemary) Lista and Leslie (Doros) Petasis. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Emma, Elizabeth, David and Daniel; his sister Catherine Lonetti, nephew, Richard (Jennifer) Lonetti and grand-nephew Anthony. His Memorial Funeral Mass will be 11 A.M. Thursday at St. Bernadette of Lourdes Church, 1035 Turner Ave. Drexel Hill, where Visitation begins at 10:30 A.M. Contributions in his memory to Heartland Hospice, 5 Christy Dr, Brandywine II Ste. 103, Chadds Ford, PA 19317, would be preferred.
