Mary began her working life at the Aileen Sewing Factory in Flint Hill, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. She later found her true calling in caring for others when she began her career as a CNA at Fauquier Hospital. She took great pride in helping her patients and treating everyone with kindness and compassion.
Mary was also a very active and devoted member of her church, where she was the secretary and treasurer for Pastor L. D. Savage at Massanova Pentecostal Church. Her faith was an important part of her life. She enjoyed attending services, spending time with her church family, and serving whenever she could.
Mary is survived by her siblings, Tom Tharp, Harvey Tharp, William "Woody' Tharp (Peggy), Glayds Williams, and James "Jamie" Tharp (Linda); and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her siblings, Johnny Tharp, Charlie "Jake" Tharp, Frances Horner, and Rosie Wharton; and a special niece, Marjorie Williams.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 3, 2026 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Forest Grove Cemetery, 258 Forest Grove Road, Amissville, VA with Pastor James "Jimbo" Pittman officiating.
Pallbearers serving the family will be Cleve Hawkins, Darren Tharp, T.W. Miller, Jeff Compton, Forest Whorton, and Marty Whorton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tony Tharp and Glenn Tharp.
