Walter Braxton Ney Jr.

1930 - 2024

Walter Braxton Ney, Jr., age 94, of College Park, MD passed peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2024.

He was born in Warrenton, VA, in 1930 to the late Walter Braxton Ney, Sr. and Clora Elizabeth Ney, and grew up in Amissville, VA alongside his late sister, Peggy Ann Jones of Amissville, VA, forming a bond that would last a lifetime.

Walter dedicated 44 years to his career at Safeway, Inc., where his commitment and hard work were exemplar. Walter prioritized spending time with his family above all else, and it was his devotion to his loved ones that truly defined him.

Walter is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Nora Ney, daughters Diane White and husband Jon of Waldorf, MD, and Janet Allen and husband Donald of Mount Airy, MD, grandchildren Tony Myers and partner Dawn of Colonial Beach, VA, Bonnie Felts and husband Josh of Indian Head, MD, Heather Nordvik and husband Erik of New Windsor, MD, great-grandchildren Allen Myers, Devon Myers, Trevor Myers, Dale Miller, Jr., Zachary Miller, Charlotte Nordvik, great-great-grandchild Oliver Myers, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and sister, Walter was preceded in death by his grandchildren Christopher Myers of Waldorf, MD and Kesha White of Mechanicsville, MD.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Independence Court of Hyattsville for their compassionate care during Walter's final days.

The family received visitors at Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Broadview Ave., Warrenton, VA on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 1:00 pm. Interment followed at Amissville Baptist Church Cemetery, 776 Viewtown Rd., Amissville, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org.
