Barry Dean Simpson

1937 - 2024

The Simpson family announces with deep sorrow the passing of our Father, Barry Dean Simpson. Barry passed away peacefully in his home on March 22, 2024, in San Andreas, California. Born in Healdsburg, California, on November 24, 1937, Barry lived a rich life spanning 86 years.
Barry always considered two places home throughout his life. Porterville, California, where he graduated high school in 1955 and met his cherished wife, Julia, and Bishop, California, where he owned and operated three businesses. The Eastern Sierra held a special place in his heart, drawing him back to the Owens Valley frequently.
Barry and Julia exchanged vows in Las Vegas, Nevada, on January 12, 1959. Together, they were blessed with five children: Jeffrey, Elizabeth, Anita, Barry, and Amanda. Barry and Julia had 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
An accomplished entrepreneur, Barry thrived in business, was an avid drag racer in the 1960s, and enjoyed diverse hobbies such as playing the piano, drawing cartoons, and most recently, tying flies. Fly fishing became his passion in later years, taking him from the waters of Alaska to the tip of Baja, California. Barry's quick wit and infectious humor endeared him to all who knew him.
Barry is survived by his sister, Dixie Simpson of Reno, Nevada, and his four children: Jeffrey Simpson of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Anita Catalina of Bakersfield, California, Barry Del Simpson of Bishop, California, and Amanda Simpson of Valley Springs, California. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Julia Jean Simpson, and his eldest daughter, Elizabeth Koop. At this time, the family has not planned any services. Barry will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
