A graveside service will take place on Friday, Sept 24th, 2 p.m. at East Line Street Cemetery for Betty Young, age 82, passed away peacefully at home in Pueblo West, Colorado on April 29th, 2020. Betty was born July 25, 1937 in Elk City, Oklahoma. The family moved to California in her early years. Betty was waitressing at a Loops Restaurant in Ventura, CA when she met the love of her life, John Young. They were married Sept 24, 1961. They lived in Montclair, CA and Agoura, CA until 1976 when they bought radio station KIBS-AM and moved to Bishop. Working side by side for almost 20 years and building the business into KBOV-AM and KIBS-FM. After selling the stations in 1995, they bought and ran The Trees Motel from 1997-2007. Betty lived in Bishop until 2016 and then moved to Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 2013 and daughter Sandee in 2013. Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Terri and Patrick Cole from Pueblo West, CO. Son and daughter-in-law Gary and Rochelle Young of Bishop. Granddaughters, Breanna Petersen of Bonanza, OR, Tawni (Matt) Nolting of Pueblo West, CO, Heather (James) Melcher of Santee, CA, and Cory Young of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Great-grandchildren, Logan Melcher, Evan Nolting, and Brooklynn Young. Brother, Van McNair or Ventura, CA. All are invited to this celebration of life, which would have been John and Betty's 60th wedding anniversary. Pastor Kate Hudson from the Bishop United Methodist Church will officiate.
