David Allen Obituary

David Glenn Allen died peacefully with his wife by his side and entered eternity with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 24 after fighting heart failure since 2020. Stanford gave him 9 months but God gave him 5 years. Dave was born August 21, 1950 in San Bernardino, raised in Chico, CA, and spent most his summers in Big Pine, CA with his grandparents, and father. He graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 1968. With Vietnam looming, he decided to wait out his number moving to Big Pine after graduation. He worked many jobs including years of construction in Mammoth. In 1979 he was hired at Bishop Union High School where he kept the grounds and safely drove students to and from school as a bus driver. He finished his career at Palisades High School, where he took great pride in taking care of the grounds, classrooms, the staff, and students – who became his close friends. Many trees that are still standing at Bishop High School and Palisades were planted by him. He also worked many summer months with Chet Baker Painting as a painter. He met and married Chris in 1991 and they shared many years of happiness, devotion, and lots of adventures. His many passions included the wild west, hunting, camping, hiking, mountain biking, black powder rendezvous, motorcycling, xcountry skiing, traveling, coin collecting, mining, fishing, and music (he even played drums in a garage band as a teenager). But most importantly he adored his family and friends and poured his time into them. After retirement, he became the "chef" and enjoyed tinkering in the kitchen. He also became a minister of marriage, performing several weddings, including just recently his brother to his new wife. He took his job seriously and held a special place in his heart for those whom he performed their ceremonies.
He is proceeded in death by his son Gabriel Allen, grandparents Glenn and Edna Allen, father and step-mother Robert and Bonnie Allen, mother and step-father Will and Patty Burney, and beloved aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife Chris Allen of Bishop, son Elisha Allen of Irvine, CA, daughter and son-in-law Nicole and Eddie Wilson, his most precious granddaughters Rylee and Makenli of Sparks, NV., brother's, Mike Hill of Chico, Rick Hill and his wife Marcia of Mission Viejo, and Alan Hill of Pine, AZ, sister and brother-in-law Lisa and Roy Beattie of Newcastle, OK. Brother-in-law and wife Ray and Kayre Seguine, sister-in-law and husband Carol and John Fansler, and sisters-in-law Lynn Neufield and Kathleen Carmichael, and brother-in-law Michael Schumacher. Cousins, Tom Allen, Bill Allen, and Robert Allen. As well as, nephews and nieces who he thought were so special and wonderful. Not to mention so many close friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation for such wonderful care from Dr. Christopher Rowan, Dr. Quigley, Dr. Wakamiya and the entire staff of Northern Inyo Hospital who came in contact with Dave during his 5 years of this medical journey. But most importantly, the prayer warriors who kept him in prayer as he battled his health.
We will gather to celebrate his life Friday, Oct. 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Laws Museum, and a dessert reception immediately following at the VFW, 484 Short St., Bishop, CA.

Uncle Dave, it had been years, but I am so grateful that I was able to see you for Elisha's wedding. You were a great father, I remember this. Always spent time with the boys, abd even let me come over a time or two. You will be missed, but never forgotten. Gabe's ready for you. With love!!
