Irene J. Knight, loving wife, mother, volunteer advocate and avid golfer, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2021 at the age of 92.
Irene was born on December 1, 1928 in Sedro-Woolley, Washington to Carsten and Ellen Carlsen. Later, while working in Seattle, she met and married the love of her life, Roy E. Knight (September 1951), who preceded her in death.
She had an enthusiasm for life and adventure that led her and Roy around the world making friends and lasting memories wherever they went. It was this love of life and family that she passed along to everyone she encountered.
Irene and Roy settled in Bishop, California in early 1980. Once there they became deeply involved in the community with work, building new friendships and, of course, playing golf as much as possible. Irene also had a passion for volunteering which included the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks Lodge, Mule Days events, and her favorite, Hospice Care. She was well known within the community and has touched many lives. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Irene is survived by her sister Arlene Sigwalt; her three sons and their wives; Bruce and Debbie Knight, Alan Knight and Donna Davis, and Carsten and Sandy Knight; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren plus many nieces and nephews. All of these she loved sincerely.
Irene will be interred with Roy at the Fort Huachuca, Arizona Historic Buffalo Solder Cemetery.
