I never met Roma or Dave, but have skiied Mammoth my whole life and still love skiing it. Roma is inspirational to me because she was the strong woman behind the man in her own right. That's a super power to me and I thank you Roma. And you did it all with a big smile on your face!

Roma, you were the love of Dave's life. I imagine the two of you off riding into the sunset on a great adventure . . . together again at last! With much love to you and Dave. You made the World a far better place.

Dave and Roma gave me the gift of Mammoth Mountain with the first rope tow on what became Broadway when I was 5 years old in the early 1950's. ...and I have been thankful for the last 70 years. You made the world a better place.

I met both Roma & Dave on a couple of occasions a few years ago at their home with “Eileen the laundry queen” who worked on the mountain for 15 years under the watchful eyes of this dynamic duo. The stories I’ve heard about the two of them & their compassion for others & support for people & their employees makes me feel like I already knew them well. Roma seemed to be an equal partner with Dave in matters of equal rights for women employees on the mt. & listening to their concerns & following thru with allowing changes in unfair policies. Eileen expressed to her concerns that she was not allowed to wear shorts in the hot laundry room & Roma agreed it made no sense that she had to wear a skirt, but couldn’t wear shorts to comfortably do her same job. Both Dave & Roma listened to concerns & made reasonable & humanitarian decisions to keep people happy & joyful. They created a “family” atmosphere for their employees as well as for patrons who chose to visit & ski there. Neither were about making a huge profit ... they were about creating a fun & enjoyable environment for all. What they built together was monumental & the legacy they left will not soon be forgotten by those who barely knew them, but most certainly by those who loved & knew them well.
