Sally-Louise Longest Obituary

Sally-Louise Longest, affectionately known as Louise or Lou to family and friends, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 4, 2025, at the age of 86. Louise was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to Frank and Alberta Morris. She was one of three children, with an older brother, Robert (Bobby), and a younger brother, Howard.
As a young child, Louise faced the challenges of polio, but her strength and resilience became a defining part of her character. Her family relocated to the United States when Louise was a young girl, and it was here that she would meet the love of her life, Kenneth Richard Longest (Dick). Their love story spanned 65 years, with Louise famously insisting they marry by May "or else!" After they married, they moved to Bishop, California, in 1961, where they raised their children, Kevin and Kari.
Louise had a long and fulfilling career, working as a receptionist at the Big Pine Sanatorium and later at Northern Inyo Hospital, where she worked in the X-Ray and Lab departments. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Louise was known for her love of reading, her passion for travel, and her enjoyment of the local bowling league. She formed close friendships over the years, many of which she cherished through monthly lunches and birthday celebrations.
Louise's life was rich with the love of family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend who filled every room she entered with warmth and kindness. Louise considered Scott Kruse one of her boys, loving him as her own. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an ever-growing circle of friends whose lives she touched deeply.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Alberta Morris, her brother, Robert (Bobby) Morris, and her niece, Dana Morris.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Dick; her children, Kevin and Andrea Longest and Jimmy and Kari McDade; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Cody Himes, Paige (Varnum) and Kevin; Cullen and Bodie, Bailey (Gonzalez) and Diego; Rylee, Renley and Rowan, Tenaya (Fierro) and Raymond; Gaige and Atlas, and Greg Tordoff. She is also survived by her brother, Howard Morris, and his wife, Marilyn, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on July 19th at 1:00 p.m. at the Bishop Elks Lodge, 151 East Line Street, Bishop, CA. The family invites everyone to join in remembering Louise's life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you bring a favorite story and a dish to share, as we celebrate Louise's legacy of love and community.
Louise will be missed deeply by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, resilience, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Louise would light up any room or place she went. Dick and Louise have been our neighbors for 35 years. We have had some great times from block parties to so many chats over the fence. We will miss her laughter, her smile and her belief that her hats made her look taller. My family will always have beautiful memories of you, we were blessed to have you in our lives. Rest easy my friend

Sally Louise was known to her Canadian Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins as Sally Lou. When she and Howard moved to California with their parents they were all missed very much. My mother, Jean Walton (Phelps) was her cousin and they kept in touch until my mother died in 2005. Later I occasionally kept in touch with Salky Lou and we had some fun conversations. I always enjoyed her fun-loving personality. The last time we saw each other she might have been 15 and I would have been 7! I´m sure she leaves behind many memories of her loving and giving ways.
