Dale Moon Obituary

Dale Lawrence Moon of East Tawas, formerly a resident of Burt/Montrose, passed away very peacefully at his home on his birthday under the loving care of his wife, children, and hospice, Friday, March 21, 2025, age 85 years.
Dale was born on March 21, 1940 in Saginaw to the late Lawrence E. and Helen F. (Jasinski) Moon. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Saginaw. Dale was employed through General Motors in Saginaw for 30 years as a Foundry Worker, retiring in 1996.
In his free time, Dale truly enjoyed fishing, camping, watching football and old time movies! Dale was a devout member of Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas where he attended mass faithfully. At church, Dale participated in many church volunteer activities, such as Eucharistic and Homebound Ministry, Greeting, Liturgical Environmental set up, and assisting on funeral lunch meals. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus #2709 in East Tawas.
Dale was a faith-filled, loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, always looking forward to family gatherings. He loved chatting with family and friends, listening and telling and re-telling stories of the past. He enjoyed the simple things in life, possessing a cheerful spirit always gratefully looking forward to everyday God grants him. Dale will be forever cherished by everyone who knew and loved him!
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen "Kathy" (Stachowicz) Moon, to whom he married on Feb. 16, 1963 at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Bridgeport. Together, Dale and Kathy have celebrated 62 beautiful years of marriage! Dale is also survived by his loving children; Timothy and Lisa Moon of Savage, Minn., Carrie and Mark Opperman of East Tawas, and Curt and Marci Moon of Traverse City; grandchildren, Jasica Martin, Michael Turner (Katelyn Day), Kate (Adam) Bixler, Trent (Alexia) Moon, and Ian Moon; great grandchildren, Jacob, Amarli, Bo, Skyelynn, Lincoln, Benny, Travis, and Arthur; one sister, Kathleen (Emmett) Bengry of Saginaw; one sister-in-law, Vicky (Lyle) Boyce of Caseville; nieces and nephews, Brent (Brady) Boyce, Craig (Heather) Boyce, Bryce (Lisa) Bengry, Stephen (Carrie) Bengry, and Jenny (Khord) Brieske; cousins and many special friends.
Dale was preceded in death by his mother, Helen F. Moon; father, Lawrence E. Moon; son, Scott C. Moon; grandson, Travis M. Opperman; father and mother-in-law, Ernest and Agnes Stachowicz; brother-in-law, Robert Stachowicz; and grandson-in-law, Cameron Martin.
A funeral mass for Dale is scheduled for Thursday, March 27, at Holy Family Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Dale's family will welcome friends for a time of visitation that morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass. Dale will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in East Tawas.
