David Lockwood Obituary

David Reed Lockwood, age 93, passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 6, 2026. He was born on Oct. 4, 1932, in Detroit, to Clifford and Arcele Lockwood.
David was the beloved husband of Anet Lockwood, his high school sweetheart, with whom he shared 73 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted father to the late David Lockwood Jr. (Becky), Deborah (Patrick) Lynch, Elizabeth (Derek) Heinz and Jonathan Lockwood. He was a cherished grandfather to Katherine (Micah) Saccomanno, Luke Lynch, Lenaya (Tyler) Love, Jemma Heinz, Isabella Heinz, Eden Heinz and Chelsea Lockwood; and a proud great grandfather to Tigerlily Saccomanno.
David was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Barteld; and his brother, Clifford Lockwood Jr. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Mosier; and many valued nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A true people person, David loved striking up conversations wherever he went.
He often spoke of God's Kingdom and shared scriptures showing how it will transform the earth. His faith was central to his life. He loved reading the Bible and was a faithful minister of Jehovah's Christian Witnesses since 1956. He served as an elder with the Washington, Sterling Heights and then the East Tawas congregation after the Lockwood family relocated up north.
For the last 15 years he served in the Clinton Twp. congregation. He volunteered with the LDC in the safety department traveling to sites where new Kingdom Halls were being built to ensure the safety of all involved – forming lasting friendships along the way. He also dedicated countless hours going from door to door in the pioneer ministry for at least 30 years. More recently, he spent many hours in letter writing, phone calls and conducting Bible studies over the phone, sharing his love of scripture with others.
David was talented at sketching and cartooning. He was hired as a graphic designer out of college. But the Lockwood family began to grow and David took a job with Edsel briefly, then Chrysler where he worked for 20 years. Even then, he always doodled and sketched on any paper at hand throughout his life. Later, he worked as office manager for Evenflo tool and die in the Tawas area until he retired.
He was an avid biker, often biking to work, traveling across Michigan on his treasured bicycle, and enjoyed watching the Tour de France. Several times, David had the opportunity to travel to Guatemala and thoroughly enjoyed working in the ministry with the local Witnesses. He loved talking about his Guatemala adventures for the rest of his life.
Above all else, David was a family man who loved and treasured his family. His faith and zeal will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
