Donald Kushmaul Obituary

Donald R. Kushmaul II, a resident of Tawas City, formerly a 23-year resident of Oscoda, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025 at Lakeview Manor Healthcare Center in Tawas City, age 76 years.
Don was born on Jan. 14, 1949 in Saginaw to the late Donald R. and Nebbie (Forbes) Kushmaul. He graduated from Northville High School and later went on to work at ASC as a Plant Manager for many years in Michigan, Mexico, California, and Canada, retiring in 2001.
Don was one of the strongest men that we have ever known. He was a pillar in his family, providing strength and comfort to those around him. He was always ready to bring a dose of practical advice to his family and friends. Don had a laugh that you could hear from the other room, and loved to tease those that he loved dearly.
He spent his young adult years working and traveling, exploring new places. He spent his middle years raising his daughter, being her biggest cheerleader. Later in life he developed a woodworking hobby, creating many fine pieces that he loved to gift to those he cared about.
His other hobbies included drawing, bird watching, catching his favorite sports teams on television, spending time with his granddaughter and family, and dominating in trivia, thanks to his impeccable memory. Don will forever be cherished within the many hearts that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Anna Kushmaul, and his beloved granddaughter, Kayden Verbowski, both of Tawas City; two sisters, Lee Kushmaul of Oscoda and Sandra Murphy of Reno, Nev.; many cousins that he loved so dearly; nieces and nephews, Michelle (Ryan) Sanborn and Chris Undiano (Angie), and Alex; and great nephew and niece, Brady and Stella Sanborn. Don was preceded in death by his father and mother, Donald and Nebbie Kushmaul.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Michigan Wildlife Conservancy at miwildlife.org. An online guest registry is available to leave a message of love and support for Don's family at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
