Donna Mae Look, age 89, of East Tawas, passed away peacefully on Feb. 20, 2025.
Donna was born on April 29, 1935 in Detroit to the late William and Lydia Groff. She was one of four children. She graduated from Tawas City High School and built a successful career as a cosmetologist, owning her own salon in Tawas City for 20 years.
Donna married Herbert Look on Oct. 19, 1957. Together they raised three wonderful sons, Dean, Don, and Scott, who in turn blessed them with four cherished grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Donna also had many nieces and nephews she cherished as her own children and grandchildren.
Her family was her pride and joy! She cherished every moment with them creating lasting memories and traditions that would endure for generations. Donna's summers were spent at countless softball fields watching her granddaughters wherever they were playing. She also had unwavering support for the Detroit Tigers as their #1 fan through victory or defeat.
Donna's willingness to always be a helping hand was evident in everything she did. You never left her home hungry, as her first words were always "what can I get you to eat." Teaching her grandchildren her favorite recipes were some of her fondest memories. Everyone looked forward to dinner at Donna's and her famous desserts. Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tawas City was Donna's spiritual home for over 60 years where her faith never wavered.
She is survived by her two sons, Dean (Kathy) Look, and Don (Cathy) Look; her four grandchildren, Jessica (Kyle) Everitt, Lyndsey Look, Steven (Landon) Miller, and Lauren (Nick) Tinson; and two great grandchildren, Isabel and Addison Everitt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Look; her siblings, William Groff, Shirley Staudacher, and Dorothy Rapp; and her son, Scott Look. Donna's memory will live on in the hearts of those that knew her forever.
On April 4, a memorial service will be held at Emanuel Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mark Lindloff officiating. Donna's family will welcome friends at the church that morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service for a time of visitation. She will be laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery in East Tawas.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks donations to be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church in Donna's honor, a fitting tribute to her lifelong journey with the church.
As we remember Donna, we celebrate a life well lived, a love well shared, and a life that will be remembered for generations. Donna Mae Look, a loving mother, a loyal friend and selfless soul, will forever live in our hearts. Online condolences may be shared at
