Frank Cibor Obituary

Frank Steven Cibor, of Tawas City, formerly a resident of New York state before moving to Michigan in 1970, passed away at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital in Tawas City on Thursday, April 22, 2021, age 88 years.
Frank was born the youngest of three children on Oct. 1, 1932 in Detroit, the son of Polish immigrants Joseph and Anna (Krenioch) Cibor. All throughout his life, Frank held the utmost respect and honor for both of his parents.
Frank proudly graduated from St. Mary's of Orchard Lake Prep Academy High School in West Bloomfield in 1950. He was employed by Marine Midland Bank, and later Frank went to work as a housing supervisor for the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.
He stepped away from his career in the early 1990s and for 30 years, he was afforded his opportunity to enjoy his well-deserved retirement. He and his wife, Rose, moved to Arizona after his retirement for 15 years, and eventually they settled back home in Tawas in 2011. Frank absolutely loved the beauty of the outdoors, especially farming, golfing, hunting, and fishing. He was an avid Detroit Tiger Baseball fan and always enjoyed watching a good Western movie!
Frank was a devout Catholic and an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2709 in East Tawas as well. Practicing the Catholic faith became a priority to both Frank and Rose. Together the couple would pray each and every day and they instilled into their children's lives the importance of Christian faith and devotion to God.
Frank is survived by his wife and best friend, Rose M. Cibor, to whom he married on Oct. 3, 1953 at the Lady of Fatima Church in Elba, N.Y. Frank and Rose were blessed to have celebrated 67 beautiful years of marriage and raised seven children, whom also survive him: Debbie Whitford (Kyle Tobin), Frank Jr. (Dawn) Cibor, Susie Fairbanks, Jackie (Neil) Kapera, JoAnn (Jeff) Walker, Christina (George) Snyder and Joe (Kate) Cibor; grandchildren, Nick, Kelly, Chris, Andrew, Amy, Brad, Tony, Kyle, David, Robert, Jennifer, Laura, Amanda, Garrett, Joey, Mia and Bohdan; and eight plus great grandchildren.
Frank's greatest accomplishment is the love and faith he gave, taught and lived with all of his family everyday. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched through the years.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Walter Cibor and Albina Medrela.
A funeral mass was held for Frank on Monday, April 26 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of mass. Interment followed at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in East Tawas.
