Grace Stevenson Obituary

Grace Alice Stevenson, age 93, passed away peacefully on Oct. 7, 2024, in her hometown of Hale.
She was born on March 23, 1931 to Glen P. and Zella G (Pullman) Sabin in Marion. Alice, as she was known to family and friends, graduated from Hale High School in 1949.
She married Donald Baker Stevenson on Dec. 2, 1950. Alice was a military wife for 15 years, traveling with Donald and her children to multiple postings in the U.S. and Japan.
Being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother was her greatest passion. Alice enjoyed crocheting, knitting, card games, coloring, and bingo. She loved spending time crafting with Kathy Jane and Dixie and was also an avid reader.
Alice was a member of Eastern Stars where she held the position of Worthy Matron for many years. She spent her last years at Hale Creek Manor where she served as "Mayor."
Alice is survived by her children, Michael (Marge) Stevenson of Pigeon, James (Christi) Stevenson of Macon, Ga., and Phyllis (Dan) Bernard of Burton; stepdaughter, Donna Stevenson of Texas; grandchildren, Melissa, David, Julie, Scott, Justin, Josh, and Brianne; 20 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; her best friend Kay Belleville, and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Donald, Alice was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Nancy Stevenson; brothers, Glen and Don Sabin; grandsons, Matthew and Eric Stevenson; and great granddaughter, Chloe Stevenson.
Services for Alice were held Friday, Oct. 11, at Hale Methodist Church. Donations can be made in Alice's name to Hale Creek Manor, Hale Methodist Church, or Chloe's Cupboard.
