Julia Zuehlke Obituary

Julia Mae Zuehlke (Groulx), who was born in Munger on Nov. 10, 1935, passed away on Dec. 12, 2023.
Julia was the youngest daughter (11th child) of 13 children, born to William and Catherine (Badour) Groulx. She is survived by one sibling, Sister Julia Mae Groulx who resides at Aquinata Hall Assisted Living in Grand Rapids.
Julie was an amazing mother to six children, George Smith (Deanna), Stephanie Common (Ken), Roy Smith (Cindy), Judge Smith (Colleen), Rod Smith (Michelle), and Bill Zuehlke; as well as four step-children from her 49-year marriage to Jim Zuehlke (deceased), Jimmy Zuehlke (deceased), Robert Zuehlke (Nicole), Michael Zuehlke (Cindy) and Valerie Zuehlke Bearden (Martin).
How in the world she managed to so amazingly raise nine children with all the non-stop messes and laundry that entailed we'll never truly comprehend. But we're all eternally grateful she did! And it was always with a smile on her face and true love in her heart. Not only was she an extraordinary homemaker, but she also filled our home with silly old cowboy songs and yodeling.
Julie is also survived by the following grandchildren, Zachary Smith, Jacob Smith (Bethany), Kenneth Common (Stacy), Andrew Paad (Michelle), Dawna Kilgore (Jeremiah), Lisa Erway (Jason), Joshua Smith (Katlyn), Shannon Simpson (Josh), Jay Harger (Kyla), Chris Harger (Shauna), Austin Smith (Cat), Ariel Smith (Julia), Justin Zuehlke, Joel Zuehlke, Jeremy Zuehlke (Shelbi), Stosh Zuehlke (deceased), and Mitchell Zuehlke (Logyn); as well as 24 great grandchildren.
Aside from her immediate family, Julie leaves behind a large extended family of nieces and nephews as well as a legion of friends from each community in which she and Jim lived (Oscoda, Westminster, S.C., Ocean Springs, Miss., Milford, and Marshall, Texas) throughout their marriage.
Julie was very dedicated to her critters, whether it was her beloved dog, Zoey, or the raccoons/ducks/geese or whatever other wildlife "looked hungry" outside her door. They weren't hungry for long!
She was one-of-a-kind and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Lovingly, her children.
