Margaret Mary Mielock

Margaret Mary Mielock, age 83, a resident of East Tawas, died on Saturday, April 15, 2017 under the loving care of her family and hospice at the Caretel Inns in Bay City.
She was born the daughter of James and Dorothy (Klenow) Mielock on Oct. 6, 1933 in Alabaster Township. Margaret graduated from Whittemore High School and continued her education and received her bachelor's degree in retailing from Michigan State University.
She worked for Consumer's Power and worked for the MSU Home Extension for Iosco and Ogemaw counties and while working for MSU she received numerous awards. Margaret enjoyed spending time in her garden, sewing and quilting, she loved attending the plays at the Tawas Bay Players and spending time at the Iosco County Historical Museum. Margaret was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and enjoyed helping with the funeral luncheons, she was a member of the Red Hat Society, and she volunteered her time as a spiritual leader at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital.
Margaret is survived by her brothers, Gary (Cathleen) Mielock and Charles (Karen) Mielock; her nieces and nephews, Cynthia, Michael, Douglas, Theresa (Rodney), James (Wendy), Lisa (Chad) and Amy (Matt); several grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Philip (Delores) Mielock; her niece, Deborah Mielock; and her beloved dog, Hoover.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 20 at noon at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or Tawas Bay Players.
