Pamela Dibert Obituary

Pamela Kay Dibert passed away on Dec. 2, 2025, following a long fight with cancer.
Pam, born Feb. 7, 1947 in Alma, was the daughter of the late Lowell and Margaret Dibert. As the daughter of a career Air Force pilot, Pam lived in many places throughout the world, graduated from high school in Sumter, S.C., and followed her sister to Michigan State University for college.
The sisters played tennis together on the MSU Women's tennis team in the mid 1960s, and were finally recognized by the university decades later in 2002 with an MSU varsity letter.
Pam was a career social worker for the State of Michigan and finally settled in East Tawas, where her parents lived. She coached girls JV and Varsity high school basketball in her spare time and found her true love in coaching.
She enjoyed doing handyman jobs for her friends and neighbors. It was always a "10 minute" job that sometimes took weeks!
Pam was also involved with the Tawas Bay Players Community Theater. Pam preferred being behind-the-scenes doing whatever needed to be done. She always had at least one dog and one cat but most times more than one.
Upon her retirement, she and her sister attended many Women's Final Four basketball tournaments all over the US. Pam enjoyed fishing, barbecue chicken and especially Michigan Koegel hotdogs on the grill! In the winter, she loved getting down to the beach in Gulf Shores, Ala., In 2019, she bought her winter home in Alabama and it was there that she spent the last months of her life.
Pam is survived by her sister, Janice Hulgan (Ben) of Guntersville, Ala.; her brother, Scott Dibert (Lise) of Bath; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Richards.

Yesterday

Pam was such a good person and fun friend. I still have lots of mementos she brought back from Women's Final Four. We spent lots of time talking about dogs and basketball.

Yesterday

Pam was one of the first people I got to know when I moved to Tawas. We ended up working together at DHS for many years . She loved her family and friends and she was a great mom to her many dogs and cats over the years. I know her sister, Janice, has taken in Luke, her last big, beautiful rehomed doggy. She was a down-to-earth person who laughed easily and enjoyed the simple things in life. She had a great family, they made you feel like you had known them for years. I will forever miss my friend, Pam.
