Richard Heaslip Obituary

With much sadness, it is announced that Richard Stephen Heaslip, 75, passed away on July 1, 2023, while in hospice care at MediLodge of Alpena shortly after finding out he had cancer.
His one wish was to make it to his 75th birthday which he did. He died on the same day as his wife, Terry five years prior.
He was born June 28, 1948 to George and Ruth Heaslip and he had an older brother named George. He grew up in St Clair, and graduated from St. Clair High School.
He served in the Marine Corps and then married the love of his life, Terry C. Tippie. They moved up to Greenbush in 1984 where they ran The Lakeside Superette for over 37 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and George Heaslip; his brother, George; his wife, Terry; his aunt, Mary, and uncle, Harvey; as well as his dog, Smokey.
Richard requested just a simple burial next to his wife with no services. He wished to send warm thoughts to his family and many friends up in Northern Michigan that were just like family to him as well as those in South Eastern Michigan and Tennessee. He will be remembered for his quirky sense of humor, his gruff nature but soft heart, his bluntness, and his caring nature to those he cared about.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Michigan.
Arrangements were provided by Grace Memorial-Smith Chapel and interment took place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Wales Township.
As Richard would say, "That's all Folks."
