Walter Reilly Obituary

Walter "Pat" Reilly, age 67, a lifelong resident of Hale, died on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Saginaw St. Mary's Medical Center.
He was born in West Branch to the late Walter and Georgia Reilly (nee Chrivia). Pat served and was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He worked as an automotive mechanic for Bob's Auto and was later self-employed at Pat's Auto.
Pat was a longtime member of the Plainfield Township Fire Department, Hale Athletic Booster Club, American Legion and he was a tech man at the Whittemore Speedway. He enjoyed farming, supervising, hunting and driving race cars.
Pat especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and he was well known for starting the American Legion youth baseball league and coaching alongside of his dear friend, Basil O'Dell. He was also a former high school baseball coach and an avid sports fan.
Pat is survived by his wife, Rosie, whom he married in West Branch on May 23, 1964; five children; Kimberly (Rick) VanHorn of Hale, Richard (Dana) Reilly, Patrick (Susan) Reilly, Kamara (Mike) Runyan and Todd Reilly; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother, David Reilly of Brighton; sisters, Gloria (Bill) Eggert of Texas and Carol Reilly of Farmington Hills; and brother-in-law, Nick (Darlene) Green of West Branch. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Jeweleen Reilly and Richard and Georgia Matthews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 16, at Buresh Funeral Home in Hale. Interment followed in Esmond-Evergreen Ceme­tery in Hale. The family received friends on Friday and Saturday until the time of the funeral. Memorials may be directed to the family and condolences may be offered at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.

Pat was a very special person. He was kind, caring, and loving. I remember his smile when he cracked a joke. I will never forget the kindness Pat showed my baby daughter and me.
