Barbara Hayes Coleman

Barbara HayesColemanBarbara Hayes Coleman died after a long illness in Jacksonville, FL on August 14, 2010 at the age of 77. She was the wife of Don Coleman of Hilton Head Island. She was an active person who did fundraising for Wolfson Children's Hospital and other charitable organizations. She was a school teacher. She ran the medical office of her husband Dr. Jim Hayes. She had a design business. She helped a number of young people deal with cults and she ran workshops to help people deal with problems. Barbara, Jim and Don were college classmates. Don's wife Sarah died about the same time that Barbara's husband Jim died, and Barbara and Don married in 2005. She is survived by her husband Don; a daughter Lisa and her husband Victor Ephrem and two sons Adam and Henry (Jacksonville); a daughter Paula and husband Tom Kettell and three children Lauren, Kelli and Christopher (Minneapolis, MN); a son James Hayes (Jacksonville); a sister Dorothy Gaze (Houston, TX); a step-daughter Katherine Coleman Coots and her two daughters Jennifer and Brooke (Hilton Head); and step-son Bob Coleman (Hilton Head). There will be a memorial service at 11:00 on August 21 at the First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville. Arrangements are being handled by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wolfson's Children Hospital, Red Wagon Club, 800 Prudential Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
