Barbara B. Gregory

Barbara B. Gregory Long time resident Barbara Betscher Gregory, 85 passed away on December 25th on Hilton Head Island, SC after a long battle with cancer. Barbara moved to Hilton Head from Lafayette, IN in 1987. She was born on the family farm in Harrison, Ohio, September 1, 1927, the eldest child of Paul J. and Ann Betscher. She graduated from Mount Saint Joseph in Cincinnati and attended The Ohio State University. She married the late Paul N. Gregory in 1950 and moved to Lafayette in 1954 when her late husband was transferred to Lafayette by Eli Lilly. Barbara was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and the Lafayette Country Club. She worked for Sears for many years in advertising and sales. She retired in 1987 and moved to Hilton Head to be closer to family. She collected antiques, earned her silver life master in bridge and kept Jack Russell Terriers. She is survived by her sister Margaret Betscher of Cincinnati, OH and brother John Betscher (Wauneta) of Greenville IL. Also sons, Thomas, (Janet) of Tampa FL, Paul (Penny) of Ft. Wayne IN, Peter of Hilton Head SC and Mark (Martha) of Plantation FL. She was especially proud of her grandchildren, Captain Andrew Gregory U.S. Army and USMA, West Point graduate, Justin Gregory, graduating in May from Purdue University, both from Ft Wayne IN and Taylor Swain of Lafayette also graduating in May from Indiana University and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in Lafayette in the spring with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, P.O.
