Charles Davids Obituary

Charles (Charlie) Newell Davids 83 of Estero, Florida died suddenly August 31, 2013. Born June 6, 1930, Charlie lived most of his life in central Ohio before settling permanently in southwest Florida. He spent his entire career in sales where he built many lifelong relationships. Charlie continued working full-time at Palm Peterbuilt Truck Centers, Inc., Fort Myers, Florida, until his death.
Charlie loved to travel and visited Africa, the south Pacific, Australia, Europe, Russia, and also enjoyed several cruises. He found joy in reading and dancing and competed in several regional showcase dance competitions in Fort Myers. Charlie was a lifelong sports fan with particular fondness for Ohio State sports.
Charlie is survived by his sons, Donn (Trish) and Michael (John) and his grandchildren, Trevor (Vanessa) and Caitlin. He is survived by two great grandchildren, Benedict and Rebecca. Charlie is also survived by siblings, Charlotte (Kenneth) Davis, Geraldine Hickok, Howard (Pat) Davids and numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie is also survived by his friend and companion, Cathy Hamilton of Estero. He was preceded in death by sister, Wilma Davids Yeager, and grandson, Blake Davids.
Cremation has taken place and the family is scheduling a memorial service in Florida and one in Ohio at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of your choice.

Today, amazingly, the forecasted high is around 60 degrees. as family and friends gather today at 11AM at Prospect United Methodist Church for a Memorial Service in Ohio, before visiting his final resting place. His energy and smile will be missed, but he will always remain in our hearts. May he rest in peace.

As you celebrate Charlie's life tomorrow, my thoughts are with all of his loved ones. I'm sorry I can't be with you during this time but due to my children's schedule, I am not able to attend. Charlie was a very special man to me and my children and I will always have fond memories of our trips to Florida to visit him and Mom.

Charlie is a very special person to me! I've met Charlie at Aki's Dance Studio where he became one of my favourite students. Charlie loves, loves dancing! So much fun we had together! Charlie took time and him and Cathy came to my wedding in Moscow, Russia and met my parents. Very special moments these were! I was so looking forward to greeting Charlie in Australia and I know he would have definitely come! I am sure he is looking down on us with the big smile of his! Such a great man! God Bless!

Charlie, You inspired me with your never ending drive and determination. I know there were a few times when we all did not see eye to eye, but that's just a healthy employee / employer realtionship. I respected you for your wealth of knowledge and experience, and I appreciate the respect you always showed me. We will miss so much Charlie. We were all sorry to lose Charlie David on Saturday. He consulted and guided many of our Fleet mechanics through the maze of working on the big Peterbilts at the City of Fort Myers Garage. A man's man, May God bless him and keep him and our sincere condolences to his family.

Charlie was a kind, sweet and caring man with a great sense of humor. I'm so grateful for all of the love and kindness he has shown the Scott family over the years. I feel blessed to have known him.
