Daniel Washburn Dale, Sr
June 21, 1932 - January 20, 2025
St Helena Island, South Carolina - Daniel Washburn Dale, Sr (06/21/1932 01/20/2025) of Sand Dollar Ct, St Helena Island, SC and son of the late Fred and Agnes Dale, died on January 20, 2025 at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years Nancy Wesson Dale and survived by his children Daniel W Dale, Jr of Coral Springs, FL (spouse, Ame Dale), Jeffery W Dale of St Helena Island, SC, Dr. Joel F. Dale of Pageland, SC (Spouse, Mary Dale) and Laurie Dale Cox of Moore, SC (Spouse, Joel Cox), 7 grandchildren Hannah Cox Cortina (spouse, Chris Cortina), David Dale (spouse, Shelby Dale), Jacob Dale, Noah Cox(spouse Lexi Cox), Gracie Cox, Kirsten Dale and Gina Cox, and 2 great-grandchildren Wesson and Wyatt Dale.
Prior to going to college, Daniel served honorably in the US Air Force spending most of his time in Alaska and California. He then received his BS degree in Industrial Management in 1962 from Clemson A&M College. Upon graduation from Clemson, he and Nancy moved to Huntsville, AL where he worked for Chrysler Corp in the Space Industry. After Huntsville, they moved to Asheville, NC where he worked for Northrop Corporation and then to Pascagoula, MS where he worked for Litton Shipbuilders building destroyers for the Navy. He and Nancy then moved back to Asheville where Daniel worked for Square D Corporation for 17 years and after raising their children in Asheville, they moved to Louisville, KY where Daniel continued to work for Square D Co. Daniel then left Square D Co. to work for The Danaher Tool Group creating Craftsman Tools. Daniel retired from Danaher Tools in 1997. After a few years in Hilton Head, SC, Daniel and Nancy moved to Harbor Island, SC where they lived out their remaining years. Daniel enjoyed time with Nancy walking on the beach at Harbor Island, crabbing with his grandchildren and spending time with his family at the beach or at Clemson Tiger Football games. Daniel was a man of strong faith living this out actively in every church in which they were members. He served the youth of FBC Asheville for many years as the Director of the Senior High SS Department. For the last 20 years he and Nancy were active members of The Baptist Church of Beaufort.
A memorial service for Daniel will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the main Sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Pageland, SC, 203 W. Pigg St, Pageland, SC. In lieu of flowers it is suggested that a donation be made in remembrance of Daniel and Nancy to Alzheimer's and dementia research at
