Bluffton, South Carolina - Edward Patrick Sullivan, 97, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

Ed was born on February 10, 1928, in Lynn, Massachusetts, to James and Bridie (McDonough) Sullivan. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Antietam. Upon returning home, Ed worked on the railroads of the Northeast and later at GE, where he met his beloved wife, Gloria.

Many will remember Ed from his years of service as a Lynn police officer, where he retired as a lieutenant in the traffic department. Following retirement, Ed and Gloria moved to Hilton Head, where he loved walking his dog, Maxi, along the beach.

He is survived by his brothers Leo, Tommy, and Richie; his children Paul, Jeanne, Phil, and Jen; his grandchildren Betsy, Emily, Rob, Andrew, Charlie, Mikayla, Sean, and Chris; and his great-grandchildren Cooper, Callaway, Violet, and Robbianne.

The family is especially grateful to the wonderful women of Loving Arms Care. Not only did they provide exceptional care for Ed, but they became his second family taking him to new restaurants, including him in their gatherings, and always ensuring he felt loved and included.

Because of the kindness and care of those around him, Ed lived a full and joyful 97 years. We will always remember his lessons on compassion, second chances, and finding happiness in the simple things.

Memorial service will be August 23rd from 9 - 11 a.m. at Solimine's Funeral Home on Broadway, followed by a burial at Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
