Harry and I first met in Atlanta and were fellow Club Managers, Harry at Piedmont Driving Club and me officing at the Atlanta City Club. Harry and I played golf at many of the local private clubs and as well enjoyed boating. I have an old video of Harry, my wife Carla and me sailing through Beauford, SC.
I remember very well our sail from Dataw Island, were we both resided, to Charleston, SC----we never made it to Charleston. Our trip included Harry, Jenni, their nephew, and me. We were in open waters when we ran aground, at impact Harry's GPS was tossed into the surf. Harry grabbed the radio and began to transmit our destress call "mayday this is the Belle we have ran aground" no reply. Thereafter we called 911 and reached the sheriff, but we had no GPS to detail our location, so we resorted to "relative bearings." Once the sheriff arrived, Jennie was safely with the sheriff and we were safe in a six-foot ding I alerted Harry when the Belle was going under Harry's chanted "rub a dub dub three men in a tub".
In reading Harry's obituary much light was shined on his exciting accomplishments, of which he never discussed----Harry was a humble man with a great sense of humor.
I am writing this on 1/3/24, about 18 months after Harry's passing. Prior to this date I had tried to contact Harry by email, telephone and text, with no replies so I resorted to the Beaufort obituaries and was shocked to learned that my friend had died. Rest in peace my friend. George Oestreich, CCM

I will never forget the story of Harry going to the Civil War diorama in Atlanta, seeing the carnage of the war, seeing how badly the south was beaten and Harry exclaiming "I love a happy ending!" What a character! Love and peace to you Jennie. :)
