John Barrett

1947 - 2025

John Barrett was a Michigan native who later made his home on Hilton Head Island. He died on January 29, 2025 at age 77. Beginning his working life as an apprentice pattern maker, he rose through international corporate ranks and, with his wife of 58 years, Mary Grace (Eastwood) Barrett, became a serial entrepreneur whose ideas, optimism and hard work built several thriving businesses and partnerships spanning multiple continents.

He is survived by his wife Mary Grace; his three sons, David Barrett (and his wife Dianne Beaber Barrett), Bradley Barrett, and Andrew Barrett (and Erin Smith); his grandchildren Emma Barrett, Isabella Barrett, and Gabriel Barrett; and his siblings Judith Barrett (and Robert Walters), Anne Barrett (and Charles Wilkinson), Martha Barrett-Erwin (and Tom Erwin), Marjorie Barrett (and John Ferguson), Rebecca Barrett-Trenda (and Alan Trenda), and Timothy Barrett.

He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred Barrett and Helen Marie Hopkins Barrett, and his brother, Gregory Allen Barrett. Everyone who loved him misses him dearly and remembers his conviction that the next generation could achieve remarkable things.
