John Blanchard Obituary
December 31, 1941 - January 7, 2022
Stone Mountain, Georgia - John Richard Blanchard (Dickie) passed away on January 7, 2022 in Stone Mountain, GA. A former resident of North Augusta, SC, Augusta, GA & Fripp Island, SC; he was born December 31, 1941 in Augusta, GA. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha Jeffrey Blanchard, their children, John Richard Blanchard, Jr. & David Chapman Blanchard (Norma Jane), his grandchildren, Aiden Jonathan Blanchard & Abigail Grace Blanchard, his brother Russell Allen Blanchard, Jr. (Linn), his Sister-in-law Jacqueline Murray Blanchard. He dearly loved his many cousins, nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Catherine Jones & Russell Allen Blanchard & his brother Dr Thomas Walter Blanchard.
Dickie graduated from University of Georgia and was an avid Bulldog fan. He owned Insurance Services of Augusta until retirement. While living in Augusta he was an active member of St. Paul's Church where he was treasurer. There he was also on the Organ Committee & volunteered in the Soup Kitchen. He was in the Kiwanis Club & worked with the Key Club. He was honored as a Trustee Emeritus member for the Tuttle-Newton Board & served on the Board for the J.B. White Foundation. He volunteered for The Rainbow Kids in Augusta. While living on Fripp Island, he volunteered for Help Mobile Meals, Fripp Island Audubon Club, Fripp Island Turtle Patrol & Adopt-A- Highway.
The memorial service will be held on March 12, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Georgia Chapter of Alzheimer's Association, 41 Perimeter Center East Ste. 550,
Atlanta, GA 30346.
